Copyrights; the end of the illustrated weblog

I intended articles on Art, Films, Comics, actualities and phenomenons like Spencer Tunick and The Burning Man Festival.
For such articles I need illustrations. On almost all illustrations on internet, copyrights are placed. I can’t pay these, I’m not a millionaire. But the use of these unpaid images is considered theft.

With my four weblogs Planet Nekkid, Planet Starkers, Planeet Bleautenbil and Planeet Hypocrisia I risk lawsuits. I steal images belonging to others. A judge won’t be sensitive to my pleas that I use these images for non-commercial reasons, that I take care to insert the names of the authors and that I in fact promote their works for free. That’s not how the law works. Besides, most authors are more interested in seeing court claims honoured than in free advertising for their works.

I simply can’t afford it. I will keep the weblogs on, but I doubt if any new posts will appear. There’s no fun in texts only.

UPDATE: Anyone who can stand my writings and even likes them; I started a new Planet weblog, it will feature considerably fewer images, and lots more texts.
Maybe I will come to terms with it one day.
